GCSE
GCSE stands for General
Certificate of Secondary Education and is the basis qualification
of the English education system. GCSEs are primarily targeted at secondary
school pupils, but are also suitable for adults.
GCSE Dutch:
There are four examination papers, one each for speaking, listening, reading,
and writing. 25% of the marks are awarded for each paper. Dictionaries are not allowed in
the examinations.
The dates for the summer 2008 GCSE Dutch exams are:
Speaking: 10/05/2008 10:00-13:00 *
Listening: 13/05/2008 13:30-14:15
Reading: 16/05/2008 13:30-14:30
Writing: 02/06/2008 09:00-10:15
The provisional dates for the summer 2009 GCSE Dutch exams are:
Speaking: 09/05/2009 10:00-13:00 *
Listening: 12/05/2009 09:00-09:45
Reading: 15/05/2009 13:30-14:30
Writing: 21/05/2009 13:30-14:45
The GCSE Dutch exams take place once per year in the summer.
* The speaking exams last 15 minutes (plus 15 minutes
preparation time) and students will be notified of their individual time
closer to the exam. The above date and times for the speaking examination
are set by the Dutch Language School, and are likely to be different at
other examination centres. It is possible to sit the speaking exam with
us at a different date and time.
GCSE Dutch Examination:
You may sit your 2009 GCSE Dutch examination at our
school in Oxford:
We charge £114 to enrol you with the OCR examination board
and to sit all the GCSE Dutch examinations with us at the above dates
and times.
We charge £161 to enrol you with the OCR examination board
and to sit all the GCSE Dutch examinations with us at the above dates
and times, if your entry is received after 11/02/2009.
We charge £49 to perform a GCSE speaking examination in Oxford on Saturday 9/05/2009 on behalf of another school.
This would be where your school enters you for your GCSE Dutch examinations but is unable to find a suitable examiner for the speaking exam. You would sit the other three papers at your own school.
We charge £58 to perform a GCSE speaking examination in Oxford on a mutually convenient date and time on behalf of another school.
This would be where your school enters you for your GCSE Dutch examinations but is unable to find a suitable examiner for the speaking exam. You would sit the other three papers at your own school.
We will accept GCSE Dutch examination entries up until 1 April 2009.
GCSE Mock Examinations:
Mock exams are an excellent way to find out which
parts of the examinations you already do well and which parts you can
improve upon. We believe completing mock exams will increase your chances
of a higher grade in the actual exams.
You may sit GCSE Dutch Mock examinations
at our school in Oxford:
We charge £89 to sit all four GCSE Dutch mock examinations
with us on 31/01/2009.
We charge £108 to sit the listening and speaking papers with us on a mutually convenient time and day, and to post you one reading and one writing paper that you return to us for marking.
We charge £35 to sit just the mock speaking examination with us on 31/01/2009.
We charge £45 to sit just the mock speaking examination with us on a mutually convenient day.
We charge £27 to mark one reading paper that we post to you to complete and return for marking.
We charge £30 to mark one writing paper that we post to you to complete and return for marking.
All mock examinations include exam papers and marking. We will also send you a brief assessment of your result (within 7 days) indicating what you have done well and how you can improve. We also include example answers for the listening, reading, and writing papers.

Part-time
GCSE Dutch course
This course would suit you if you are able to attend
classes at our school in Oxford.
Distance
Learning GCSE Dutch course
This course would suit you if you live further
away from Oxford or if you prefer to study at home in your own time.
