GCSE (evening class)

We run a 29 hour part-time GCSE Dutch course each year at our school in Oxford starting at the end of September. This course is suitable for anyone who has attended the equivalent of about 60 hours of Dutch lessons, or who has grown up in a Dutch or Flemish family, or who has lived for extended periods in the Netherlands or the Flemish part of Belgium.

This courses is designed to prepare you for your GCSE Dutch examinations and is aimed at achieving a top grade. It closely follows the topics and grammar from the National Curriculum for GCSE Dutch. This is an intensive GCSE course to be completed in one academic year and includes mock exams.

This GCSE Dutch course is designed to prepare students for the GCSE Dutch exams set by the OCR examination board (codes A801, A802, A803, & A804). In addition to the lessons you will be given 2 to 4 hours of homework to complete between lessons. Classes are kept to a maximum of 7 students and include a course folder and all printed material.

First lesson Wednesday 28 September 2011 (8pm to 9pm)
Following lessons at the same time on:
5-Oct, 12-Oct, 19-Oct, 2-Nov, 9-Nov, 16-Nov, 23-Nov, 30-Nov, 7-Dec,
11-Jan, 18-Jan, 25-Jan, 1-Feb, 8-Feb, 22-Feb, 29-Feb, 7-Mar, 14-Mar, 21-Mar,
18-Apr, 25-Apr, 2-May, 9-May, and 16-May.

Also included:
GCSE mock examinations on Saturday 28 January 2012:
9.45am to 1.30pm: Reading, Writing, & Listening mock exams
2.30pm-6.30pm: Speaking mock exam (the exact time of individual
speaking mock exams will be given nearer the time).

 

What you will need before starting one of these courses:
A good elementary level in Dutch equivalent to about 60 hours of Dutch lessons. We will need to assess your current level in Dutch before enrolling for this class.

Examination:
You may also sit your GCSE exams at our school. The cost of enrolling for the examinations is in addition to the cost of the course.

If you cannot make one of the dates, don't worry, your teacher will give you all the course material from the missed lesson so that you can catch up. You may also book additional private tuition with your teacher at any time.
