This course will teach you how to:
- Make yourself understood in Dutch using simple words in the most common everyday situations.
- Understand spoken Dutch phrases that are spoken slowly and distinctly.
- Write simple messages in Dutch appropriate to everyday situation.
- Read and understand the essence of simple Dutch phrases that relate to everyday events.

This course includes pronunciation, introducing yourself and meeting people, family and friends, eating and drinking, work, shopping, clothes, asking directions, the weather, colours, travel, the library, banks, the post office, hobbies, and more. Also included are: numbers, weights and measures, countries and nationalities, the present tense of verbs, articles, plurals, prepositions, asking questions, pronouns, adjectives, time, negation, comparatives, superlatives, diminutives, and more.

These courses consists of:
25 lessons covering a range of everyday topics including shopping, travel, work, holidays, etc.
The basic Dutch grammar.
Exercises in reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
Audio CD with pronunciation and listening exercises.
• Templates for all the homework exercises available online. Just fill them in and send them off!
Homework correction by e-mail.
• Unlimited e-mail support from a qualified Dutch teacher for 12 months.
• Course progress status available online.

 

This distance learning home study course is designed to be completed at your own pace. Each lesson takes between one and two hours of study to complete. You may send in your homework assignments when you are ready. The course is delivered in three parts and you may start at any time of the year. Part 2 and part 3 will be delivered on completion of the preceding part.

This course is suitable for adults and children from the age of about 13.

What you will need before starting these courses:
• Access to a computer (so that you can complete your homework assignments).
• Access to the Internet (so that you can copy your homework templates and view your current course status).
• An e-mail account (so that you can return your homework assignments and communicate with your teacher).
• Microsoft Word or other software that can display the 'track changes' information created by Microsoft Word (for viewing your corrected homework assignments).
